Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU). The role supports comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting, with opportunities for full-time or part-time schedules and night shifts.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients, administering treatments, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, and educating families. Requirements: nursing degree, active RN license, and BLS; ACLS/Stroke scale preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with progressive medical needs following Mercy standards.
• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, respiratory and renal function; intervene as needed.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures with accuracy and clinical judgment.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers and the care team to develop care plans.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and post-discharge care.
• Document assessments and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety.
• Support Mercy’s mission by providing compassionate, holistic care.
