Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking an experienced RN to join the ICU Stepdown team at Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

The role involves caring for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg, with a focus on safety, evidence-based practice, and collaborative care. The position offers a night shift, a strong support structure, and opportunities for professional growth through Mercy’s career pathways and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Active Missouri RN license or compact license is required/preferred as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, PAs, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
