UNC Health Care Hillsborough Campus is seeking a New Graduate Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department as part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program. The role supports transition from nursing school to practice with mentored clinical relationships in a 36-hour week, onsite schedule, and a community hospital setting.

This ED handles a range of cases from minor injuries to trauma, and emphasizes geriatric care; licensure in NC and BLS are required before day one.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • RN license in North Carolina required by start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • New graduate within 12 months of graduation and <6 months RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Education - identify learning needs, attend programs, and assess readiness to learn.
  • Evaluation of Care - participate in evaluating patient outcomes within the care plan.
  • Implementation - care for patients across acuity, follow policies, and prioritize tasks.
  • Leadership - collaborate, set goals, and promote interdepartmental teamwork.
  • Patient Assessment - assess needs and anticipate discharge planning.
  • Planning - coordinate with family to plan care, respecting cultural factors.
  • Research - read journals and share applicable ideas with the team.
