Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department at Hillsborough. The role involves caring for patients from minor illnesses to major trauma, with a 36-hour weekly night schedule (3:00p-3:00a). The unit is Level 2 Geriatric ED accredited, offering training and a 1:1 preceptor program.

Ideal candidates have one year of ED or critical care experience, NC RN licensure, and BLS. A BSN within seven years is encouraged; salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
• One year of nursing experience preferred (ED/critical care).
• If hired after January 6, 2014, must enroll within four years and obtain a BSN within seven years.

Responsibilities

• Education: identify and meet learning needs; attend programs; assess readiness to learn.
• Evaluation of care: review plan of care and discuss with the interdisciplinary team.
• Implementation: care for patients with complex problems; perform bedside testing as needed.
• Leadership: set goals for professional growth and promote teamwork and safety.
• Patient assessment: synthesize data to prioritize care and plan for discharge.
• Planning: coordinate care with patient/family and available resources.
• Research: stay informed on journals and discuss applicability.
