Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking a Critical Care Stepdown RN for a Full Time Night shift.

Join our ICU Stepdown team to care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg, using advanced technology and a collaborative culture. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, perform accurate hand‑offs, and collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary partners to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, diploma, or BSN).
BSN preferred.
Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
BLS required; ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post-ICU), and support recovery.
Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
