Job summary

UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, NC is seeking a New Graduate Nurse for the Cardiovascular Surgery Stepdown Unit (5HV). This 12-month Nurse Residency Program supports transition from student to professional nurse with dedicated preceptors, education, and leadership support.

New grads or RNs with less than 12 months of experience are encouraged to apply. The unit specializes in monitoring and care for post-surgical cardiac patients, with opportunities to develop critical thinking and clinical judgment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program.
• Current NC RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure before providing clinical care.
• BLS certification for Healthcare Providers.

Responsibilities

• Education - participates in identifying and meeting learning needs and attends education programs.
• Evaluation of Care - identifies expected patient outcomes and participates in planning.
• Implementation - demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems and organizes care.
• Leadership - develops goals for professional growth and promotes interdepartmental collaboration.
• Patient Assessment - synthesizes assessment data and plans for discharge.
• Planning - collaborates with patient/family to prepare/update the plan of care.
• Research - reads relevant journals and brings ideas for applicability.
