Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is hiring a New Grad Registered Nurse for the 6300 Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit. The role develops critical thinking and professional growth within a fast-paced environment.

The position requires an ADN or Nursing Diploma, NC RN licensure or compact licensure, and BLS. Twelve months of clinical experience is preferred. Full-time, rotating 3,12-hour shifts (7 am–7 pm; 7 pm–7 am) with day/evening/night options.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• All RNs without a BSN should enroll in a BSN program within two years and complete within seven years.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care per physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care delivery.
• Maintain the environment of care and prioritize workload with available resources.
• Support ongoing professional development and training for staff and learners.
• Participate in performance improvement opportunities and related activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
