Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a new graduate Registered Nurse for the Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit. You will provide and document nursing care, delegate tasks, and support a fast-paced environment focused on high-acuity cardiothoracic patients.

Responsibilities include teamwork, patient assessment, care planning, and ongoing professional development. Requires NC RN licensure within 60 days and BLS certification; CNAs and other staff support may be involved.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing are encouraged to enroll in a BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete within seven years.
• Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
• Current NC RN licensure or compact licensure; licensure must be obtained in NC within 60 days of start; BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, provide and document professional nursing care per physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed staff.
• Assist other healthcare personnel in delivering patient care.
• Maintain the environment of care and resources; prioritize workload.
