Job summary

Hume New England is seeking a Development Officer in Monterey, MA to cultivate churches, donors, alumni, and foundations across New England and surrounding states. You will expand the ministry by growing financial support and developing strategic partnerships while coordinating with the Development Team.

The role requires travel, exceptional communication, and relationship-building skills to engage donors and partners in various events and campaigns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout New England and surrounding states.
• Exceptional communication and listening skills.
• Strong organizational discipline with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience in ministry, nonprofit leadership, fundraising, sales, marketing, or related field.
• Experience in major gift fundraising, church ministry or pastoral leadership, Christian camping, relationship-based sales, business development, nonprofit development, event planning, or volunteer leadership.

Responsibilities

• Builds, manages, and grows a portfolio of approximately 150–200 qualified major donor prospects, developing individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies.
• Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards gifts of $10,000+, with emphasis on increasing transformational giving; partners with executive leadership on significant gift opportunities.
• Conducts regular in-person donor visits throughout New England and surrounding regions.
• Increases unrestricted giving through the Hume Fund and other annual ministry priorities by developing annual giving strategies that engage alumni, parents, campers, churches, and ministry friends.
• Promotes camperships, operational needs, and strategic ministry initiatives, and executes stewardship plans that deepen donor engagement and retention.
• Serves as Hume New England’s primary ambassador throughout the region, representing Hume’s Christian mission and ministry at conferences, church and ministry gatherings, and community events.
• Develops relationships with pastors, churches, Christian business leaders, foundations, and organizations, and pursues corporate sponsorships and ministry partnerships aligned with Hume’s mission to increase both camp participation and regional awareness.
• Supports regional fundraising and awareness events — including luncheons, donor gatherings, vision dinners, alumni events, capital campaigns, and church appreciation events — partnering with the Development Team to identify prospects and maximize engagement.
