Penn Medicine University City in Philadelphia seeks a Sr Surgical Services Associate in the Neurosurgery department to support a busy academic practice and coordinate patient activity for outpatient visits and surgical procedures.

The role includes triaging calls, scheduling surgeries and diagnostic tests, obtaining authorizations, and handling surgical billing and correspondence. Collaboration with clinicians and staff is essential to deliver timely patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of medical office experience, or 4 years of customer service experience; clinical office experience preferred.
• An associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets, screens, schedules and directs patients in a prompt, positive, pleasant, and helpful manner at all times even in adverse circumstances; acts as primary point of contact for assigned patients.
• Retrieve and process incoming medical records/images, ensure scanning and physician review is completed; ensure diagnostic testing and other evaluations are completed before visit.
• Assists attending physician and/or APP with patient relations and scheduling during outpatient office hours including travel to clinic location when necessary.
• Provides coverage for practice team members during absences and/or staffing shortages.
• Schedules required procedures and OR for patients at attending physician’s direction.
