Job summary

AMN Healthcare is seeking a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) for locum tenens support in Richmond, VA. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8a–5p, from mid-December 2026 through April 2027, with EPIC EMR usage and supervising physician available by phone.

Certifications required: AANP (NP), ACLS, and Virginia license; credentialing typically ~120 days. The role includes diagnosing illnesses, treating patients, ordering/interpreting tests, writing prescriptions, coordinating

Qualifications

• Licensed NP or PA in Virginia with current board certification (AANP for NP)
• ACLS certification required
• Proficient in EPIC EMR
• Virginia license and credentials in good standing

Responsibilities

• Diagnose illnesses and initiate treatment
• Order and interpret tests as needed
• Write prescriptions and manage medications
• Coordinate patient care across services
• Respond to code stroke alerts promptly within the facility
• Collaborate with supervising physician when on site
• Provide timely communication with patients and families

StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 9 Pay Rate: $106.70 - $115.50

This facility is seeking a Surgery - Neurovascular Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP) for locum tenens support as they look to fill a current need.

Details and requirements for this opportunity:

• Schedule: Monday-Fridays 8a-5p; Beginning middle of December - April 2027
• Procedures required: Diagnose Illnesses, Treat Illnesses, Order Tests, Interpret Test, Write Prescriptions, Coordination of Care and First response to any code stroke alert within the facility
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Support: Supervising Physician always available by phone if not present on site
• Certifications and license required: American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Virginia license required
• Credentialing timeframe: 120 days
