Summary of Job Duties: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs patient care tasks that do not require a license. The PCT supports the care delivery as part of the multidisciplinary team in UAMS Neuroscience Clinics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • CPR Certification within 3 months of hire
  • Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to follow oral instructions, basic computer skills, strong work ethics, and accountability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a nursing assistant or military corpsman
  • Patient care experience in acute/outpatient care setting

Additional Information:

The PCT works under RN supervision, performs non-licensed tasks, and must pass required competencies. The PCT adheres to UAMS standards and policies.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain patient report and communicate with R.N. about care and changes
  • Follow the Plan of Care as delegated
  • Communicate effectively with team members
  • Follow directions from R.N.s and team members
  • Complete delegated patient care activities
  • Provide grooming, hygiene, comfort measures, and assist with activities
  • Accurately document all patient activities and vital signs
  • Assist patients and visitors with information or solutions
  • Support department staff in duties
  • Notify staff of urgent issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned
