Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician for the Sippy Lab in the Neuroscience Institute. The role supports laboratory operations, animal colony management, regulatory compliance, and grant administration to advance studies on sensory representations and their relation to psychiatric disease.

Responsibilities include histology, tissue imaging, colony management, protocol submissions, budgeting, and onboarding new staff, with a focus on compliance and high-quality data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience.
• Effective oral and written communication skills required.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory Operations and Research Support: Perform procedures including histology, animal injections, tissue imaging, viral vector handling, and related techniques.
• Mouse Colony Management: Oversee breeding, genotyping, colony planning, census management, animal allocations, and records.
• Regulatory Compliance and Animal Research Oversight: Manage IACUC, IBC, EHS compliance; prepare protocol submissions; conduct audits.
• Controlled Substance Management: Manage controlled substance programs, licensing, inventories, and regulatory compliance.
• Finance and Grant Administration: Manage purchasing, contracts, reimbursements, grant administration, and onboarding of personnel.
• Administrative Duties: Manage PI calendar, onboarding of new personnel, and training requirements.
