Job summary

RFCUNY is seeking a Research Technician to support a lab focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology, tissue analysis, and behavior. The role involves working with transgenic lines, performing surgeries, and conducting standard molecular biology experiments.

The candidate should hold a BA/BS in biological sciences with relevant lab experience; neuroscience background is a plus and collaboration and attention to detail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in biological sciences with basic lab techniques.
• Neuroscience background is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail; work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out essential research support in the lab focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology and tissue analysis, plus mouse behavior.
• Work with transgenic mouse lines and perform mouse surgical procedures.
• Conduct basic molecular biology experiments (PCR, cloning, etc.).
• Prepare tissue for analysis and perform microscopy.
• Prepare complex chemical solutions and media for experiments.
• Record results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques; perform other duties as assigned.
