Job summary

UC San Diego is seeking a part-time research assistant to support brain, addiction, and development studies in the Department of Psychiatry. You will assist with data collection, administer behavioral and neurocognitive measures, and help collect biological specimens. Responsibilities include recruitment, consent, data entry, and scheduling.

The role requires attention to detail, strong organization, and the ability to work in a clinical research environment. Evening/weekend hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED with two years of lab experience, or two years of college including psychology courses and one year of lab experience.
• Previous lab experience in a research setting.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant information.
• Ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with Adobe PDF.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience assisting with neurocognitive and behavioral assessments.
• Experience with REDCap for survey administration.
• Experience with clinical populations, including substance use disorder.

Responsibilities

• Assist PIs on studies investigating brain, addiction, and development.
• Data collection and administration of behavioral and neurocognitive measures.
• Collect biological specimens (saliva, urine, hair) and assist with neuroimaging.
• Recruitment and obtaining informed assent/consent from participants.
• Enter and verify study data; schedule study appointments and use facilities.
• Maintain equipment and supplies; prepare data collection forms and correspondence.
• Assist with other tasks as needed.
