Job summary

The Patel lab at UCLA Health seeks an experienced laboratory research technician to study brain clearance pathways in Alzheimer's disease using mouse models and cell culture systems. Under supervision, the Staff Research Associate will conduct experiments, maintain transgenic lines, and perform brain sectioning, histology, IHC, IF, and data analysis.

Experience with rodent surgeries and ImageJ is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological science or related field with lab experience.
• 2+ years neuroscience or brain research experience.
• 2+ years experience with mouse survival surgeries and/or behavioral testing.
• Ability to learn new software or lab techniques as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret scientific articles to stay current.
• Excellent verbal and written fluency in English.
• Ability to prepare tissues for histological stains (cryostat/microtome).
• Experience with viral vectors and modern molecular biology tools is preferred.
• Familiarity with microscopy techniques (epifluorescence, confocal).

Responsibilities

• Support studies in mouse models and cell culture for brain clearance pathways.
• Develop and maintain transgenic mouse lines and perform brain sectioning.
• Conduct histology, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence assays.
• Analyze data and assist with experiments related to neurodegeneration.
• Assist with rodent survival surgeries and behavioral testing as needed.
