Job summary

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) seeks a Research Assistant to support neuroscience/neuromuscular disease research in our Bio-Imaging Facility. The role involves coordinating projects, training students, and maintaining the lab environment.

Experience with molecular biology techniques, cell culture, and animal work is preferred, with a focus on zebrafish and mice where applicable. The candidate will multitask, be detail-oriented, and work well both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences (biology or chemistry) required or preferred.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as microscopy, protein biochemistry, genotyping/PCR is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, and work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform 4–6 experimental techniques (e.g., tissue culture, western blotting, PCR, behavioral assays).
  • Maintain and organize project data, assist with posters and manuscripts, and present findings at meetings.
  • Oversee general lab maintenance and safety, prepare reagents and equipment for experiments.
