Job summary

University of Utah is seeking a Laboratory Technician to conduct experiments, prepare solutions and specimens, and support daily lab operations on a full-time schedule. The role includes hands-on training and close mentorship from the Principal Investigator (PI) as part of a busy academic lab environment in Salt Lake City.

Responsibilities include performing tests, preparing samples, following SOPs/GLPs, maintaining clean work areas, and assisting with calibration of instruments.

Qualifications

• 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
• Laboratory Technician I requires little to no related experience.
• Laboratory Technician II requires at least 1 year of related experience.
• Laboratory Technician III requires 3+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses.
• Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis.
• Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under direction of a supervisor.
• Follow SOPs and GLPs.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order.
• May calibrate instruments.
• Mid-level support role with routine tasks under moderate supervision.
