The laboratory technician will be responsible for conductingexperiments and collecting data, assisting with experimentalpreparation by making solutions and preparing specimens, andsupporting daily laboratory operations, including equipment setup,cleaning, and maintenance. The technician will receive extensivehands-on training and mentorship from the Principal Investigator(PI).

Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare andweigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, andother protocols under the direction of a laboratory servicesmanager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard OperatingProcedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure alllaboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and inproper working order. May be responsible for calibration ofinstruments. Mid-level support role. Completes routine tasks undermoderate supervision.
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher educationcan be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience(Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related workexperience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following joblevels:
Laboratory Technician, I: Requires little to norelated experience.
Laboratory Technician, II: Requires at least 1year of related experience.
Laboratory Technician, III: Requires 3+ years ofrelated experience.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience insmall animal surgery, electrophysiology, histology, or otherbiological laboratory techniques and coursework, as well as astrong interest in neuroscience research.
