Job summary

Temple University’s School of Medicine seeks a full-time, entry-level Laboratory Assistant to support neuromodulation research and gene-based therapies in rodent models. You will work with the PI, postdocs, and students on preclinical studies, handling animals, performing surgeries, and aiding with tissue analysis.

Responsibilities include SOPs, data recording, and maintaining equipment and supplies, with an emphasis on detail, organization, and teamwork in a safety-focused lab setting.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and scientific procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow written protocols.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with standard computer software applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform rodent handling, animal surgeries, post-operative monitoring, behavioral assessments, and routine animal care.
• Perform tissue collection, sectioning, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and basic image analysis.
• Perform molecular biology techniques, including DNA preparation, PCR, cloning, plasmid preparation, cell culture, and viral-vector methods.
• Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and experimental records.
• Coordinate the receipt, organization, and storage of laboratory shipments and supplies.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and institutional policies.
