Job summary

RTI International is seeking a Research Assistant to support nonclinical neuropsychopharmacology studies in a dedicated laboratory in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. You will help conduct behavioral and dosing experiments in rodents, collect data, and support lab operations in a collaborative environment.

The role provides hands-on experience with rodent procedures, neural activity monitoring, and data management, contributing to studies on reward, stress, and pain mechanisms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, pharmacology, psychology, biology, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accurate data collection.
• Ability to follow protocols, SOPs, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Independence with teamwork in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral and dosing experiments in laboratory rodents.
• Perform rodent surgeries including intracranial procedures and post-operative care.
• Monitor neural activity during behavioral tasks.
• Collect, document, and maintain behavioral observations and study data.
• Review study data for accuracy and completeness and maintain animal wellbeing.
