Job summary

The Luo Lab at the University of Utah is seeking a full-time Lab Technician to join our team, supporting behavioral and electrophysiological studies of decision-making and attention. You will help design and run rat tasks, manage data, and assist with surgeries and in vivo recordings under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a biology-related bachelor's degree, hands-on lab experience, and the ability to work carefully with animals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and equipment; ability to create statistics and prepare reports.
• OSHA training and certification in animal care and use may be required.

Responsibilities

• Handle and train rats on complex cognitive tasks.
• Assist with stereotaxic survival surgeries to implant microelectrode arrays and optic fibers.
• Conduct in vivo electrophysiology recording sessions in behaving animals.
• Assist with data processing, quality control, and generation of figures/reports.
• Maintain daily lab operations and rodent colony per guidelines.
