Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Scientist 2 in Neuroscience Discovery & iPSC Assay Development to advance CNS discovery programs. You will use human iPSCs to generate CNS cell models, execute functional assays, and contribute to disease-relevant phenotyping in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field with 6+ years of laboratory experience, OR a Master’s degree with 4+ years of experience in iPSC and mammalian cell culture.
• Demonstrated proficiency in human iPSC maintenance and directed differentiation into CNS cell types.
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology, imaging, biochemistry, and high‑content screening.
• Strong experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Culture, bank, and quality control human iPSCs; differentiate into CNS lineages (neurons, glia).
• Maintain routine neuronal cultures for functional studies and assays.
• Design, optimize, and execute robust cell-based assays for neuroscience programs.
• Support genetic/pharmacological proof-of-concept experiments with precise workflows.
• Generate and analyze complex datasets; maintain ELN documentation.
• Present findings to multidisciplinary teams via reports and discussions.
• Oversee iPSC lab operations, reagent management, and safety compliance.
