Job summary

Mass General Brigham is hiring a Prior Authorization Specialist II to support the Department of Neurology’s revenue cycle. You will obtain authorizations, verify eligibility, and process referrals to ensure timely patient care and reimbursement.

Working closely with providers, clinical teams, and billing staff, you will navigate payer requirements, manage denials and appeals, and document all activity in Epic with accuracy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of medical authorization experience.
• Epic experience preferred (0–1 year).

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance authorizations prior to patient services.
• Ensure referrals are received, documented, and complete.
• Perform demographic and insurance eligibility checks in Epic and payer systems; update discrepancies.
• Facilitate authorization requests with payers and providers.
• Submit clinical documentation to support medical necessity and authorization requirements.
• Collaborate with providers and staff to support reconsiderations and appeals.
• Maintain timely documentation of all authorization and referral activity in Epic.
