Job summary

Sumitomo Pharma America (SMPA) is seeking a Medical Director, Clinical Research (Neurology) to lead design and execution of clinical development plans for neurology assets and to serve as the Clinical Research Lead for programs in neurology. This role requires deep therapeutic and regulatory expertise and global trial management.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee trial design and monitoring, and contribute to regulatory submissions while traveling up to 20% domestically

Qualifications

• MD (or international equivalent).
• Board certified or board eligible in neurology.
• Fellowship training in epilepsy required.
• Experience in pediatrics preferred.
• A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry contributing to clinical research strategy in neurology.
• Experience in regenerative cell medicine or gene therapy preferred.
• Prior experience working with Japan organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads clinical development workstreams for neurology asset(s).
• Designs clinical study protocols across development stages.
• Provides SME input for clinical development strategy in neurology.
• Leads multi-disciplinary, multi-regional teams through complex decisions.
• Oversees clinical trial conduct with CROs, medical monitors, and vendors.
