Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Clinical Development Medical Director to serve as the Medical Lead for clinical trials, guiding strategy, design and execution while acting as the Medical Monitor for safety across multiple studies in all phases.

The role encompasses leading key study documents, participating in cross-functional Study Execution Teams, and supporting regulatory submissions with clinical input to documents. A board-certified physician with 10+ years of research experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• MD, DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree.
• Board certification/eligibility in a specialty field is highly desired.
• Typically requires 10 years of basic or clinical research experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads development of Study Protocols, Investigator Brochures, and Development Plans with minimal guidance.
• Serves on cross-functional Study Execution Teams to ensure quality study execution.
• Prepares regulatory documents including IND/CTA sections, safety reports and annual reports.
• Provides clinical input to ICFs, CRFs, SAPs/CPAPs and CSR; liaises with Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Operations.
• Represents Vertex to outside medical personnel in protocol development and study conduct.
• Performs other duties related to clinical programs.
