Job summary

The Haque Lab at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center conducts translational research on inflammation, cancer, neurodegeneration, and spinal cord injury.

The Research Specialist I will support the PI and team, maintaining protocols and day-to-day operations, gaining hands-on experience in multidisciplinary biomedical research. Responsibilities include assistance with spinal cord injury experiments, tissue analysis, and preparing reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with two years' lab or clinical experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Ability to perform spinal cord injury experiments and analyze samples using various biochemical, immunological, and molecular assays.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Directly responsible for spinal cord injury experiments and sample analysis using biochemical, immunological, and molecular assays on tissues, blood, and cells.
• Manage daily lab operations: instrumentation usage, ordering, shipments, maintenance, and inventory.
• Participate in animal studies, tissue culture, gene transfer, immunostaining, and rehab/behavior studies.
• Prepare experimental reports and assist with protocols, manuscripts, and grants.
