Job summary

The Zhang Lab at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Research Specialist I to support studies on enteric neuroimmune and neuroepithelial interactions.

You will work with mouse models, intestinal tissues, immune cells, and epithelial cells, performing tissue preparation, genotyping, PCR/qPCR, Western blotting, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and microscopy, cell and organoid culture, and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, molecular/cell biology or related field is preferred.
• Experience with mouse models, immunology, microbiology, cell culture, organoid culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, or GI biology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mouse colony maintenance and genotyping.
• Prepare and analyze mouse tissues and cells; PCR/qPCR; Western blotting.
• Perform flow cytometry and immunofluorescence; microscopy and imaging.
• Culture cells and organoids; maintain laboratory reagents and equipment.
• Maintain detailed lab notebooks and data records.
• Assist with regulatory and grant-related materials when appropriate.
