Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited EMG/EEG technician training program.
  • Certification as EMG/EEG Technician (e.g., ABEM or equivalent).
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience performing EMG and EEG procedures in a clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of neuroanatomy and electrophysiological principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for EMG and EEG procedures by explaining the process and addressing questions.
  • Set up and operate EMG and EEG equipment to record electrical activity accurately.
  • Monitor patients during testing to ensure safety and comfort while obtaining data.
  • Maintain and calibrate diagnostic equipment to ensure performance and safety compliance.
  • Document and analyze test results, providing detailed reports to neurologists.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to review findings and support clinical decisions.
  • Manage patient records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Stay current with advances in neurodiagnostic technology through ongoing education.
