Job description

The EMG/EEG Technician plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders by performing electromyography (EMG) and electroencephalography (EEG) tests. This position involves preparing patients, operating specialized diagnostic equipment, and accurately recording neurological data to assist physicians in clinical decision-making. The technician ensures the quality and integrity of test results by adhering to established protocols and maintaining equipment. Additionally, the role requires effective communication with patients to explain procedures and alleviate concerns, ensuring a positive patient experience. Ultimately, the EMG/EEG Technician contributes to improved patient outcomes through precise data collection and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited EMG/EEG technician training program.
  • Certification as an EMG/EEG Technician (e.g., through the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine or equivalent).
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience performing EMG and EEG procedures in a clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of neuroanatomy and electrophysiological principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in neurodiagnostic technology, health sciences, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications such as Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) or Registered EMG Technologist (R. EP T.).
  • Experience with advanced neurodiagnostic equipment and software.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
