Job summary

UC San Diego seeks a journey-level Neurophysiology Technologist to perform EEG, EMG, and evoked potential studies. You will prepare patients, apply electrodes, calibrate equipment, and interpret test outputs under supervision.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited neurophysiology program, 1 year EEG experience, and certification within two years. BART or BLS is preferred at hire, with a plan to obtain BART within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited neurophysiology technologist program or equivalent training experience.
• One year of clinical EEG experience at a hospital with outpatient and inpatient services.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.
• Must be board certified in appropriate function within two years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Perform electroencephalographic, electromyographic, or evoked potential studies.
• Take medical histories related to neurological diagnosis and prepare patients for EDX studies.
• Apply electrodes to predetermined positions and ensure correct placement and performance.
• Calibrate and adjust apparatus, replace faulty components, and select electrode combinations to define focal abnormalities.
• Interpret graphic output, monitor for artifacts, and document abnormal clinical manifestations observed.
