Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a journey-level Neurodiagnostic Technologist to perform electroencephalographic, electromyographic, and evoked potential studies. The role includes patient history intake, patient positioning, electrode application, calibration, and real-time interpretation of recordings to identify focal abnormalities.

The incumbent will communicate with the technical director, assist with department operations, and may participate in program development.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited neurophysiology technologist program or equivalent training experience.
• One year of clinical EEG experience at a hospital with outpatient and inpatient services.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within 6 months of hire date.
• Must be board certified in appropriate function within two (2) years of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Perform range of electroencephalographic studies related to EEG, EMG, or evoked potentials.
• Take medical histories related to neurological diagnoses and prepare/position patients for EDX studies.
• Apply suitable electrodes at predetermined positions, check performance, calibrate equipment, and replace faulty components as needed.
• Select electrode combinations and interpret graphic outputs to define focal abnormalities during examinations.
• Observe patients during tests, indicate artifacts, and designate abnormal clinical manifestations observed.
• Communicate with the technical director regarding daily operations and assist with program development.
