Job summary

Alector Inc. is seeking a Scientist for our Biology team in South San Francisco. You will design and execute in vitro pharmacology studies using iPSC-derived cellular models to advance treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.

You will collaborate with Biolgy, ADPE, and Preclinical teams, generate high-quality data, and explore AI methods to accelerate discovery while maintaining rigorous records and transparency.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience, immunology, biology, or a related field.
• Hands-on cell culture experience with iPSC-derived or rodent neuronal models.
• Experience with immunoblotting, ELISA, MSD, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, or immunohistochemistry.
• Ability to analyze data and clearly communicate scientific findings.
• Active user of large language models and interest in evolving AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute in vitro pharmacology studies using iPSC-derived models.
• Develop disease-relevant cellular models of neurodegenerative disease.
• Generate and analyze samples for downstream biochemical and cellular analyses.
• Document results and maintain accurate lab records in ELN.
• Collaborate across Biology, ADPE, and Preclinical teams and explore AI-enabled workflows.
