Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician for its Acute Neuroscience Trauma unit, a Level I Trauma Center. You will provide direct, age-specific care under the RN, monitor patient conditions, and support the care team in implementing the plan of care across neurology and neurosurgery patients.

Qualifications

• Required Education: High School Degree or equivalent.
• Preferred Education: Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure/Certification.
• Required: AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent Licensure/Certification.
• Experience in a healthcare environment or clinical nursing coursework is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct care to patients in their assigned unit with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Monitor patients’ conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
• Record admissions data, vital signs, intake/output, and other patient information as outlined.
• Obtain specimens for diagnostic or waived tests as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment to support patient care and team functioning.
• Attend mandatory trainings and adhere to infection control policies.
