Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems is seeking staff for the Acute Neuroscience Trauma unit. You will provide direct patient care, monitor conditions, and support safety and comfort for patients with complex needs in a Level I Trauma Center setting.

Responsibilities include documenting vital information, assisting with procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. Training and teamwork are emphasized to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant and/or Medical Assistant training
• EMT or Military Corpsman/Medic background beneficial
• Experience in healthcare settings or patient care environments
• Nursing aide training and readiness for clinical rotations

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct patient care and monitor conditions with age-appropriate adjustments.
• Support personal hygiene, safety, and comfort needs of patients.
• Follow nursing and hospital policies in care delivery.
• Maintain clean, stocked clinical area to ensure safety and readiness.
• Manage supplies, equipment, sterilization, and environment for quality care.
• Document and report patient information and changes to the care team.
• Assist with specimen collection for diagnostics as needed.
• Attend required trainings and maintain patient safety compliance.
• Build rapport with patients and care team while responding to instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
