Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support neurology procedures at Clements University Hospital. The position requires CST certification, BLS, and 2–3 years of OR experience, plus a $8,000 sign-on bonus and 4x10 hour shifts with on-call.

You will assist the RN Circulator, prepare the operating room, maintain sterile technique, perform instrument counts, and ensure patient safety across age groups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of OR experience with knowledge of eight to ten surgical specialties and ability to operate standard operating room equipment.
• Certification: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) with completion of an approved training program; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Assists RN Circulator by organizing, prioritizing tasks, and preparing the operating room for each procedure.
• Maintains communication with the RN Circulator regarding procedure and patient status.
• Provides perioperative patient care through selection, inspection, and opening of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Applies sterile technique and maintains sterile field.
• Promotes patient safety by checking equipment for proper working order prior to procedures.
• Performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts with RN Circulator at proper count intervals.
• Passes surgical instruments and anticipates surgeon's needs.
• Performs hand scrubs, gowns, and gloves for self and others.
• Leads perioperative staff as technical resource and/or preceptor.
• Completes written clinical performance evaluations.
