Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist in Neurology. The role involves organizing the operating room, passing instruments, and supporting perioperative patient care for diverse neurology cases.

You will work closely with the Registered Nurse Circulator to ensure patient safety and efficient turnover. The position requires a High School Diploma, CST and BLS certification, and 2–3 years’ experience across multiple surgical specialties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years 2-3 years’ experience with knowledge of eight to ten surgical specialties and able to operate basic/standard operating room equipment.
• CST certification and BLS certification (AHA/ARC) required.

Responsibilities

• Organize and prepare the operating room for each procedure and patient arrival.
• Maintain communication with the Registered Nurse Circulator and monitor patient status.
• Provide perioperative patient care, select and open surgical supplies and equipment.
• Apply aseptic and sterile technique and maintain sterile field during procedures.
• Check equipment for proper functioning to promote patient safety.
• Count sponges, sharps, and instruments at designated times with the circulator.
• Assist with hand scrubs, gowning, and gloving; prepare instruments for sterilization.
