Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. The role requires CST certification and 2–3 years of experience across eight to ten surgical specialties. BLS is required and on-site work is expected.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience with knowledge of eight to ten surgical specialties.
• CST certification completion or equivalent training; or prior practice before Sept 1, 2009.
• Basic Life Support (AHA/ARC) certification.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and prepares the OR for procedures with RN Circulator.
• Provides perioperative patient care through selection, inspection, and opening of supplies/equipment.
• Maintains sterile technique and sterile field during procedures.
• Promotes patient safety by checking equipment prior to procedures.
• Performs counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with RN Circulator.
• Assists with passing instruments and responds to surgeon needs.
• Leads perioperative staff as needed and participates in turnover.
