Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Neurology/Stroke APP (NP/PA) to provide direct patient care within neurology inpatient units and outpatient clinics on the Duke Health campus. The APP collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to perform exams, coordinate care, and contribute to stroke services.

The role requires completion of accredited NP or PA programs, NC licensure, and BLS. It offers inpatient shifts with a focus on clinical practice, education, and research collaboration

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioners: MSN or DNP ACNP program completion.
• Physician Assistants: Accredited PA program; Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctoral degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to support physician in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing treatments.
• Take patient histories and perform physical exams; document notes and develop therapeutic care plans.
• Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain procedures to patients.
• Carry out procedures such as wound care and dressings; monitor progress and consult supervising physician as needed.
• Participate in research projects and train new personnel; assist in teaching students and residents.
