Job summary

Nemours is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician in the pediatric Ophthalmology department. The role involves performing ophthalmic testing, taking medical histories, and assisting with procedures under physician supervision.

Travel to multiple Nemours sites in the Jacksonville area is required, with clinic hours 8am–5pm, Monday to Friday. A high school diploma and BLS are required; ophthalmic technician certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association within 90 days of start date.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ophthalmic testing and ancillary procedures.
  • Completes thorough medical histories and documents chief complaints and ocular history.
  • Provides family-centered care under supervision of Ophthalmologist or Optometrist.
  • Triages patient calls and completes patient forms and prescription refill requests.
  • Prepares patients and exam rooms, maintains equipment and supports safe, confidential care.
