Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for Neuro/Neurosurgery during night shifts. The role provides basic technical assistance and direct patient care in assigned units under the supervision of a charge nurse.

The ideal candidate will have completed a nurse assistant, medical assistant, EMT, or related program or have two years of direct patient care experience and a current BLS certification. Night shifts required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, or related program, or two years of direct patient care experience.
• Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire or enrolled in nursing studies with clinical concepts.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, reports, and documents data: vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimens.
• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture.
• Acquires 12-lead EKG and performs POCT.
• Assists with patient activities, hygiene, feeding, mobility, and safety per care plan.
• Maintains privacy, infection control, and a clean environment; supports other hospital services as needed.
