Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Med/Surg Neurology Unit at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN.

The role is a 0.7 FTE with 8-hour night shifts and an every-other-weekend rotation, offering a dynamic environment on a 184-bed facility. Qualifications include BLS certification and multiple eligible pathways such as the OnTrack Nursing Assistant program, previous direct care experience, or enrollment in an approved nursing program.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or obtainable upon OnTrack program completion.
• OnTrack Nursing Assistant training or Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program preferred.
• Six months of direct care experience in long-term, home care, or acute care settings acceptable.
• Enrollment in an LPN/RN/NP program with one semester of clinical rotation acceptable.
• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification upon hire (not required if transferring from another Nursing position).

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care duties including vital signs checks, bladder scanning, blood glucose testing, and documenting cares.
• Report patient data and progress to the supervising RN.
• Support the Nursing Process and patient care model to achieve outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patient, family, and health care team; reinforce patient education as directed.
• Maintain compliance with laws, policies, and program standards; participate in improvements.
