Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System Corporation seeks a skilled Radiologic Technologist to perform imaging procedures in two or more modalities across locations. The role requires ARRT registration, MD licensure, and BLS certification, with at least 3 years of experience and competency in additional modalities.

You will administer contrast, document in EHR, and participate in clinical training and departmental quality initiatives while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in radiologic technology from an accredited program (USDE/CHEA).
  • Registered ARRT and MD state license in modalities of employment.
  • Certification in two of CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical radiology experience; competency in two additional modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures in two or more modalities.
  • Select appropriate technical factors and ensure patient safety and care across modalities.
  • Administer contrast per facility policy and document procedures in EHR.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission, state and federal regulations; maintain compliance.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and lead workflow enhancements.
  • Act as clinical competency evaluator or preceptor for training staff and students.

Job Requirements

Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures in two or more imaging modalities.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

  • Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology, in all locations across all patient types; in addition, performs exams and procedures as needed in one of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound, PET CT, and/or Nuclear Medicine in accordance to facility protocols.
  • Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Administers contrast according to facility policy.
  • Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
  • Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation/MR safety, and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills.
  • Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment.
  • Maintains supplies and inventory in area.
  • Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors.
  • Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems and follows up for resolution, in accordance with policy.
  • Actively participates, and takes a leadership role, in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
  • Participates as a clinical competency evaluator for students and/or a preceptor for employee training and educational activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required
  • Associate degree, Certificate, or advanced degree in radiologic technology, or modalities of employment, from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Working competency in two additional modalities
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
  • Certification in two of the following: CT, MRI, Mammography, Ultrasound, PET CT, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology
  • Licensed in State of MD in modalities of employment
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
Education & Experience - Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in health science or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in additional two modalities
