Job summary

VCU Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to join the Neuroscience ICU (NSICU) team in Richmond, VA. The NSICU is Virginia's largest neurocritical care unit and part of a comprehensive stroke program.

You will provide age-appropriate patient care under RN supervision and contribute to a high‑quality care environment. The role emphasizes direct patient support, safety, accurate documentation, and collaboration with nurses and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of healthcare environment experience.
• Completion of CNA/Medical Assistant/EMT or Nursing Aide programs or clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct care to patients and monitor conditions.
• Record initial and ongoing patient information including vital signs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, stocked environment and assist with daily care.
• Assist with feeding, hydration and mobility while observing safety plans.
• Adhere to nursing and hospital policies and participate in trainings.
• Identify patients and report changes to licensed staff promptly.
