Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, seeks an experienced Neuro ICU Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver direct, high-stakes patient care for critically ill adults in the Neuro ICU, under supervision of the neuro intensivist.

The role emphasizes rounds, collaborative care with residents and fellows, prescribing medications, and contributing to research, education, and program leadership.

Qualifications

• Nurse Practitioners: MSN or DNP in acute care for adult care.
• Physician Assistants: PA program; Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred.
• Critical Care Fellowship training is preferred.
• Both: NC license/PA-C certification and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for Neuro Critical Care patients under a neuro intensivist.
• Conduct daily rounds with the attending physician to assess and plan treatment.
• Collaborate with residents and fellows on treatment plans and education.
• Prescribe medications and manage medical devices per protocols.
• Lead quality improvement and contribute to research activities.
