Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Successful completion of an accredited Neurology Residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology.
• Active, unrestricted Illinois medical license (or willing to obtain) and valid DEA registration.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient neurological consultations and acute care for stroke-ready hospital.
• Serve as the sole on-duty neuro-hospitalist during shift blocks.
• Cover Emergency Department consultations 7:00 AM–7:00 PM.
• Utilize a flexible 'round and go' model, departing after rounds while staying available for acute cases until 7:00 PM.
• Night-time teleneurology coverage for inpatient and ER needs 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Maintain thorough electronic medical records for all admissions and rounds.

Overview

A regional community hospital with stroke-ready capabilities is seeking a full-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) Neuro-Hospitalist to join its inpatient neurology team. What you'll do

• Provide dedicated inpatient neurological consultations and acute care management within a stroke-ready community hospital.
• Serve as the solo on-duty neuro-hospitalist during scheduled blocks, managing a low and manageable patient census.
• Provide Emergency Department coverage and consultations during daytime hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Utilize a flexible 'round and go' model, departing campus after daily rounds while remaining available to return for acute presentations until 7:00 PM.
• Rely on dedicated night-time teleneurology coverage for all inpatient and ER needs from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records for all inpatient admissions, rounding, and consultations.

Required qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Successful completion of an accredited Neurology Residency program
• Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Neurology
• Active, unrestricted Illinois state medical license (or immediate eligibility to obtain)
• Valid DEA registration
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently as the primary inpatient specialist during active shift blocks
