KeenLogic seeks a Network Tier 3 Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force’s Executive Airlift Communications Network (EACN). The role involves advanced network engineering, analysis, design, troubleshooting, and integration for gateways at Scott AFB, JB Andrews, and JB Lewis-McChord.

Network Tier 3 Engineer

KeenLogic is seeking a Network Tier 3 Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force’s Executive Airlift Communications Network (EACN). EACN provides reliable voice, video, and data communications to senior U.S. Government leaders while airborne. The program includes three operational Air to Global Information Grid Gateways and a Systems Integration Lab used to test upgrades, configuration changes, and new capabilities before deployment to operational environments.

This position will provide advanced network engineering, analysis, design, troubleshooting, and integration support. The engineer will work closely with Government engineers to maintain configuration baselines, evaluate technologies, resolve complex network issues, and support operational gateways at Scott Air Force Base, Joint Base Andrews, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Position Details

• Anticipated Start: January 2, 2027, with availability required for the beginning of phase-in.
• Contract Length: Anticipated phase-in from January 2–February 1, 2027, followed by a base period from February 2–September 30, 2027. Four one-year option periods may extend performance through September 30, 2031, with a potential additional six-month extension through March 31, 2032.
• Location: Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
• Onsite Requirements: Onsite support for the operational gateway and Systems Integration Lab.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, with an assigned schedule within 6:30 AM–5:30 PM Central Time, excluding federal holidays.
• Clearance: Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Operational Designation: Mission-essential support.
• Travel: Government-approved travel may be required to support other gateway locations, installations, maintenance, or technical coordination.

Required Qualifications

• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• 5+ years of relevant experience supporting network engineering and related technical functions.
• Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
• Ability to perform duties onsite at Scott Air Force Base.
• Ability to satisfy applicable DoD workforce, information assurance, and network/computing environment certification requirements associated with assigned duties and privileged access.

Job Expectations

• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex network issues across operational and laboratory environments.
• Working capability with routing, switching, firewalls, IPv4/IPv6, VLANs, VPNs, encryption, network management, and communications transport technologies relevant to EACN.
• Ability to maintain configuration control and validate changes in the Systems Integration Lab before operational deployment.
• Ability to develop technical documentation, support configuration training, and communicate recommendations to Government engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform network analysis and design to evaluate new technologies, support emerging requirements, and optimize network performance.
• Support Government engineers with technical architecture, configuration/change management, and current- and future-state planning.
• Troubleshoot complex issues affecting operational gateways and the aircraft or platforms accessing them.
• Establish and maintain gateway baseline configurations and the Systems Integration Lab environment.
• Install and functionally test software versions, patches, technical orders, and approved configuration changes.
• Document and test new hardware, software, and configurations in the lab before changes are introduced to operational gateways.
• Develop and update installation and configuration guides, topology diagrams, checklists, policies, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Support equipment installation, removal, replacement, and configuration training at supported sites.
• Maintain network and system backups, support fault‑tolerant designs and disaster recovery solutions, and perform approved server maintenance.
• Develop scripts and other technical tools, collect network statistics, and support analysis of availability, utilization, outages, and overall system health.
• Support VoIP sustainment and integration of approved network transport capabilities, aircraft, and other assets as directed within the awarded scope.
