Job summary

Wilberforce University seeks a Network Technician to install, configure and maintain our campus network infrastructure. The role focuses on routers, switches, firewalls, APs, and secure connectivity across LAN/WAN and VPNs.

You will monitor performance, troubleshoot issues with Rukus and Cloudpath, perform routine upgrades, and ensure robust security and documentation. Collaboration with IT staff and vendors is essential.

Qualifications

Degree in IT/CS or equivalent experience, or 3+ years in network roles.
Rukus and Cloudpath experience preferred.
Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and security principles.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and APs.
Monitor performance and troubleshoot connectivity with Rukus and Cloudpath.
Perform routine maintenance and system upgrades.
Configure and support LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
Diagnose hardware/software issues and provide user support.
Maintain network security protocols and assist with cybersecurity measures.
Document configurations, changes, and procedures.
Coordinate with IT staff and vendors to resolve issues.
