Job summary

The Bakersfield City School District is seeking a Network Support Technician to install and maintain computer systems and related technologies across district sites.

This role requires at least one year of technology support experience, strong PC and Windows knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively with staff and vendors. A valid California driver’s license is required for district business travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in providing technology support.
• Comprehensive knowledge of personal computers and operating systems (i.e., Windows, etc.).
• Experience in troubleshooting personal computers and peripheral equipment.
• Knowledge and experience with routers, switches, IP addressing schemes and network management tools desirable.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions including directions in various company manuals; ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
• Ability to maintain cooperative, and harmonious relationships with staff and vendors; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
• Experience in related area of personal computers, network design and maintenance, and related technology.
• Valid driver's license and personal car for use on district business.

Responsibilities

• Installs and troubleshoots personal computers and Windows operating systems and related hardware including but not limited to switches, and routers
• Assists users in analyzing system requirements; makes recommendations for purchases and/or upgrades
• Assists staff in use of computer and network systems as assigned
• Keeps comprehensive records; prepares variety of technical reports and correspondence
• Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in field; upgrades skills and attends inservices/training as required; applies current practices, equipment and materials as needed
• Provides general backup and assistance to network engineer
• Provides general assistance to school site technology coordinators
• Performs other related duties as assigned
