Network Security Engineer at Apex Systems

Apex Systems is hiring for a Network Security Engineer role to start work with our healthcare client.

• Expected Start Date: May 2025
• Location: 100% Remote - equipment will be provided by the client
• Time Zone Preference: None

Responsibilities

• Apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements, focusing on confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation on key network security and netflow security tools.
• Analyze, streamline, and automate operational tasks to protect the network infrastructure against adversaries, and assist in building network security systems and solutions.
• Define network security standards and implement technologies to ensure conformance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science).
• 2 – 4 years of related experience.
• Experience with network security technologies (e.g., firewalls, proxy, DNS environments).
• Knowledge of network security tools like Wireshark, Snort, Nagios, etc.

Daily Responsibilities

• Write scripting code in Python and work with firewalls daily.
• Contribute to developing and refining solutions to support daily operations and improve firewall monitoring.
• Engage in coding and automation within network security, driving innovation and efficiency.

Team and Culture

The team operates in an Agile environment, emphasizing cross-functional collaboration to deliver secure solutions.
